Kiwanis Club of Silver City Helps with Jump Into Summer - 06/14/2013

The Kiwanis Club of Silver City participated in the "Jump Into Summer" Family Day sponsored by Hidalgo Medical Services. This event creates interaction between children and adults in areas of eating healthy and fun exercising. The Kiwanis ran the Basketball Shoot Challenge, where kids shot as many baskets as possible in a timed period. Tianna, Lori (front row), Bob, Jerry, and Kari kept track of registering participants and time trials.

Foster Kid Picnic - 05/28/2013

The Kiwanis Club of Silver City hosted a BBQ honoring foster kids of Grant County and the families that take them into their homes. This year, new Member Linda Rowse, joined by her husband Mike, put together this fun social event. Linda was presented with a thank you plaque from the CYFD. Key Club member, Serina Pack, baked cupcakes for dessert.

The Governor’s visit’s during the Student Recognition Banquest was made even more special with a memorable presentation by Serina Pack, Key Club member.  She shared with us her work to promote children’s literacy, giving more than 400 hours of service in the past year, to focus on improving reading levels of children age 12 and under. Her unique programs such as “For the Love of Art and Read for Joy” workshops, free book exchanges, teen mentoring and much more reach out to address a problem in our country.  Serina shared a movie of her journey and projects to address this issue.  She also created a memorable reflection of the Governor’s day’s events through a video movie she created...

Bike Safety Rodeo (Kiwanis and Rotary Event) - 05/03/2013

The Kiwanis Club of Silver City, in cooperation with the Silver City Rotary Club, held it's 4th Annual Kids Bike Safety Rodeo during the 27th Tour of the Gila Bike Race. This free event provided kids with a professional bike safety inspection, a monitored safety course to ride and free helmets to any child that needed one. The Silver City Police Department and Grant County Sheriff’s Department as well as D.A.R.E Officers and Smokey Bear were on hand to provide their expertise and support. Kiwanis Annual Student Recognition Banquet - 05/01/2013

The Kiwanis Annual Student Recognition Banquet honored student of area schools with awards and cash scholarships. The Guest Speaker this year was Windy Mortensen, governor-elect of the Southwest District Kiwanis. 

Key Club Member, Serina Pack, Presents her Mining Reclamation/Native Grass research - 01/02/2012

Serina Pack presents special presentation at Kiwanis luncheon sharing her two years of research on mining reclamation and native grasses. Serina has been selected to represent the state of New Mexico at the upcoming Society of Range Management International Conference in Spokane, WA, at the end of the month. She appreciated the chance to present her project to Kiwanis in preparation of her presentation in WA.

Kiwanis Club of Silver City hosts annual Chirstmas party with service project to Fort Bayard Medical Center. Each year the club buys more than 100 gifts for patients at the center and at their annual Christmas party they all come together to wrap those special gifts.

Serina and Marissa (Cliff Key Club Students) Recognize Maurine Laney - 10/31/2011

Serina Pack and Marissa Rowse recognize Marine Laney for all of her support of them with their literacy project and being the person who reached out to them to invite them to first present to the Kiwanis, opening many doors for them.  Serina painted a special painting for Maurine in appreciation.

Serina and Marissa (Key Club Students) Recoginze Bob Carson for Key Leader - 10/31/2011

Serina Pack and Marissa Rowse do a special recognition at Kiwanis meeting to thank and honor Bob Carson for his work as an administrator for Key Leader--a camp they recently attended together. Serina painted a special painting on a mirror and shared a story of how the mirror is symbolic of the beautiful leader they see in Mr. Carson and that they hope each time he looks into the mirror he will remember and reflect how positively so many around him see him as a role model and leader.
