Projects
Our club is involved in a variety of projects that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide. 

A summary of things we do:

  •       Terrific Kids Program-- helps elementary school students develop self esteem, leadership skills, morals, and standards and respect for others at an early age. This program is currently active in Bayard, Central, G.W. Stout, Harrison Schmitt, Hurley, Jose Barrios, San Lorenzo and Sixth Street Elementary Schools -- NINE School in all!
    ·         K - Kids is a student led community service club on the elementary school level that teaches members the value of helping others through participation in community service projects and club activities. There is currently an active K-Kids club at G.W. Stout Elementary. 
    ·         Builders Club is a student led community service club on the middle school level that teaches members the value of helping others through participation in community service projects and club activities. There is currently an active Builders Club at La Plata Middle School.
    ·         Key Club is a student led community service club on the high school level that teaches members the value of helping others through participation in the community service projects and club activities. There is currently active Key Clubs at Cliff, Silver and Cobre High Schools. 
    ·         Circle K (CKI) is a student led community service club on the collegiate level that teaches members the value of helping others through participation in community service projects and club activities. There is a newly chartered CKI club at Western New Mexico University. 
    ·         Key Leader is Kiwanis International’s Leadership education program for students, primarily in high school, ages 14 through 18. Its mission is to provide a “life-changing experience that inspires young people to achieve their personal best through service leadership.” 
    ·         AKtion Club is a community service group for adult citizens who live with a disability.
    ·         Student of the Month program recognizes outstanding students as well as the most improved. Scholarships are awarded at a student recognition banquet held at the end of the school year.
    ·         Kiwanis Scholarships are awarded to many students each year. 


    The Kiwanis Club of Silver City also initiates many service projects all year round like and are involved with many community functions:  

o   Bike Safety Rodeos

o   Participation in Health Fairs

o   Christmas for Ft. Bayard patients

o   BBQ for CYFD foster kids

o   HMS Jump Into Summer Event

o   Red Hot Children’s Fiesta

o   Spooktacular organized and administered by AKtion Club
